Personally curated from the company’s extensive back catalog, this anthology showcases the label's commitment to first-class, unprocessed sonics across a diversity of styles. From the single-player-to-a-part Baroque clarity of Vivaldi to the late-Romantic splendor of Wagner and Holst, every selection demonstrates the depth and brilliance of the Chesky sound.
This collection highlights an extraordinary roster of talent, featuring Charles Gerhardt leading the National Philharmonic Orchestra in a rousing rendition of Wagner’s “Die Walkure: Ride of the Valkyries”, and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz delivering the sheer orchestral power required for Holst’s “Mars” and Strauss’s “An Der Schoenen Blauen Donau”. The set also features the intricate chamber work of the Connecticut Early Music Festival Ensemble under Igor Kipnis, and the sultry, evocative saxophone of Lawrence Feldman with Orquesta Nova. For a truly immersive experience, organist Gregory D'Agostino performs Bach’s "Toccata And Fugue" at Manhattan’s Church of St. Paul the Apostle, captured via Chesky’s proprietary Binaural+ process to provide a lifelike presence.
The Audiophile Classical Collection is a definitive showcase of world-class engineering and pure musicality. The album will be reissued in 2026 on 180g One-step Pressing Vinyl LP as part of the Chesky Original Masters series.
