Portraits Of Cuba reflects the musical odyssey of Paquito D’Rivera, a unique blend of Cuban and Jazz music that re-affirms both the artist's Cuban roots and his love for the American art form. Far beyond the realm of popular music, it is a jazz musician's tribute to the enduring legacy of Cuba, beautifully orchestrated by arranger and conductor Carlos Franzetti and impeccably performed by Mr. D'Rivera and eighteen seasoned musicians, each with a proven track record of excellence. Portraits Of Cuba was recorded live without overdubbing at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in New York City over a two day period in February of 1996, using a single, high resolution microphone set-up, capturing the beautiful and natural reverberation of the old church. As Producer David Chesky explained in 2025: “At Chesky, the goal for me was to make the best-sounding recordings we could. It was about pursuing the perfect sound.” The selections encompass almost ten decades of Cuban music and are set to be reissued on SACD Hybrid Stereo and 180g One Step Pressing Vinyl LP.

A landmark 2004 album by Marta Gómez that established her as one of Latin America’s most poetic voices. The recording unites Colombian folk traditions with Latin American rhythms, Spanish flamenco, and jazz harmony across fourteen tracks—twelve of them original—that travel from the valleys of Colombia to the coasts of Peru and beyond. Centered on voice and guitar, the arrangements feature subtle touches of bass, percussion, flute, and accordion, revealing Gómez’s gift for lyrical storytelling...

Now considered a bossa nova classic, 1989’s Rio After Dark was São Paulo singer/guitarist Caram’s debut release for Chesky Records, a New York label renowned for its high-resolution audiophile recordings. Caram was mentored by the legendary bossa nova pioneer Antônio Carlos Jobim, who joined his protege on two of the album’s fifteen cuts, playing piano and singing background vocals on Caram’s versions of his classic songs ‘Meditation’ and ‘Anos Dourados (It Looks Like December).’ Another star...

Released in 1999 by the noted audiophile label Chesky Records, The Feeling’s Back showed that flugelhorn maestro Chuck Mangione - renowned for his trademark fedora hat and warm melodic lyricism - was still a force to be reckoned with in the jazz world. The son of an Italian American greengrocer, Rochester-born Mangione played hardbop in a group with his piano-playing brother before going solo in the mid-1960s. In 1978, he joined a small list of chart-busting elite jazz instrumentalists when h...
