Born in Belgrade and a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Micic brings a unique cross-cultural depth to her performances, blending technical mastery with profound emotional resonance.

 

Lilac Wine is a deeply personal tribute to the legendary Helen Merrill, Japan’s favorite American Jazz singer, a.k.a. the iconic "Sigh of New York", who shaped the era of modern jazz. Recorded on April 19, 2025, at the world-renowned Van Gelder Studio in New Jersey, the session captures Micic with an elite ensemble. Including powerhouse saxophonist Eric Alexander, pianist Brandon McCune, bassist Alexander Claffy, drummer Jason Tiemann, and her husband, the celebrated guitarist Rale Micic. The interplay between Rale’s acoustic guitar and Alma’s soft, swinging vocals provides a breathtakingly intimate atmosphere that honors Merrill’s legacy while carving out a fresh, modern path. 

 

Releasing in 2026 as part of the prestigious VENUS MASTERPIECE LP COLLECTION, this premium limited edition 180g Double Vinyl LP set brings these definitive performances to a deluxe vinyl format. Mixed and mastered by the legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara, and housed in a stunning gatefold jacket with OBI strip, this release ensures that every nuance of this beautiful session is preserved in its entirety without omission.
