Through his prolific work with Venus Records, the late Eddie Higgins solidified his status as one of the most beloved and respected jazz figures in Japan. Higgins, who passed away in 2009, was a pianist of rare sensitivity, celebrated for his masterful chord voicings and an uncanny ability to infuse every performance with a captivating narrative spirit.

 

Haunted Heart was recorded on June 28, 1997, at the iconic Clinton Studio “A” in New York City. Produced, mixed, and mastered by the legendary Tetsuo Hara, the album captures Higgins and his trio in peak form, delivering romantic, beautifully crafted melodies with a soft yet driving sense of swing that provides the listener with a profound sense of comfort.

 

Now reissued for 2026 as part of the prestigious VENUS MASTERPIECE LP COLLECTION - 18, this premium 180g Double Vinyl LP set brings the full tracklist of the acclaimed long-play CD to a deluxe vinyl format for the first time. Housed in a stunning double-gatefold jacket and OBI strip, this release ensures that every nuance of the original session is preserved in its entirety without omission.
