Internationally acclaimed bassist and vocalist Nicki Parrott has established herself as a cornerstone of the New York jazz scene since her arrival from Australia in 1994. A protégé of the legendary double bassists Rufus Reid, Parrott is a rare multi-talent who brings a signature sound to every performance. She famously performed for years at the legendary Les Paul Sessions at the Iridium jazz club, as well as in several successful Broadway ensembles.

 

On Sentimental Journey, Parrott pays homage to the great Doris Day, with the album taking its title from Day’s own iconic debut. Parrott showcases her "world-class" double bass mastery alongside her soulful, intimate vocal delivery. Recorded on April 28 and 29, 2015, at Trading 8's Studio in New York City, she is joined by an elite ensemble: John Di Martino (piano), Adrian Cunningham (tenor saxophone, clarinet, flute), Frank Vignola (guitar), and Alvin Atkinson (drums).

 

Releasing in 2026 as part of the prestigious VENUS MASTERPIECE LP COLLECTION, this premium limited edition 180g Double Vinyl LP set brings these definitive performances to a deluxe vinyl format. Produced, mixed and mastered by the legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara, and housed in a stunning gatefold jacket with OBI strip, this release ensures that every nuance of the New York session is preserved in its entirety without omission.
