The Scandinavian Jazz Trio—a sophisticated cross-border collaboration featuring Magne Arnesen (Piano, Norway), Hans Backenroth (Bass, Sweden), and Kristian Leth (Drums, Denmark)—makes its highly anticipated debut with Bossa Beguine. This orthodox piano trio captures the timeless atmosphere of the swing tradition, delivering a performance that feels rooted in the "good old days of jazz” while maintaining a fresh, modern clarity.

 

The trio’s synergy is on full display as they interpret masterful compositions by jazz legends such as Oscar Peterson, Thad Jones, and Tadd Dameron. Recorded on September 16 and 17, 2022, at Yardhouse Studio in Stockholm, Sweden, the session is a masterclass in elegance and rhythmic precision. Produced, mixed and mastered by the legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara, the recording preserves the intimate, nuanced soundstage that has become the hallmark of the Venus Records label.

 

Releasing in 2026 as part of the prestigious VENUS MASTERPIECE LP COLLECTION, this premium limited edition 180g Double Vinyl LP set brings Mecca’s Japanese debut to a deluxe vinyl format. Produced, mixed and mastered by the legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara, and housed in a stunning gatefold jacket with OBI strip, this release ensures that every nuance of the Stockholm session is preserved in its entirety without omission, offering a definitive listening experience for the jazz connoisseur.
