Russian-born pianist Vladimir Shafranov is a titan of international jazz whose career spans decades and continents. Classically trained from the age of four at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Leningrad, Shafranov lived in Israel and Finland before moving to New York City in 1983, where he performed alongside icons like Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Ron Carter. Renowned for his elegant touch, impeccable swing, and deep lyrical sensibility, his recordings for Venus Records have long enjoyed a passionate, cult-like status among discerning jazz lovers.

Recorded on March 3, 2026, at King Sekiguchidai Studio in Tokyo, What A Wonderful World fulfills the ultimate dream of audiophiles and jazz enthusiasts alike. Captured live in an uncompromising direct-to-disc cutting session and simultaneously recorded in ultra-high-resolution DSD, the Vladimir Shafranov Japan Trio delivers a breathtaking, masterclass performance. The direct-cutting method leaves zero margin for error, capturing every delicate touch, dynamic shift, and spontaneous burst of energy in real time.
